I am Barbara L Sharp, a student focusing on painting at the New York Academy of Art in the Class of 2023 as a candidate for the Masters of Fine Art degree..
I am a diagnostic radiologist and interventional mammographer by training, worked for twenty-eight years in a large radiology group in Jacksonville, Florida, and now volunteer during the summer as a physician in Karatu, Tanzania at a small rural medical center.
I attended high school in Taiwan where I was fascinated by cultures and languages. I studied Mandarin language, calligraphy, and Chinese brush painting as a teenager. While practicing medicine, I participated in many art workshops in Jacksonville, New York, San Francisco, and Europe.
